Statistical Results of Mentoring

One-on-one relationships provide young people with caring role models who can have a profound, life-changing impact.  A seminal 1995 study of Big Brothers Big Sisters found that young people with mentors are:

  • 53% less likely to skip school;

  • 46% less likely to start using drugs;

  • 32% less likely to get in physical fights; and

  • 27% less likely to start drinking.
